What I appreciate the most about working in ABC is the hands on approach to problem solving that we are using in our projects.

The real challenge is not to come up with the perfect solution, but to come up with a perfect solution that can be implemented and then execute on it in cooperation with the local team.

For me personally this is something that provides me with great satisfaction – being a part of a team that is actually changing the ways the client’s organizations does business.

From my perspective, ABC represents a great opportunity for graduates seeking an exciting job experience in various business areas.

What I think makes ABC special is the unique combination of the expert knowledge and result oriented approach. At the same time, building a strong relationship with the client is the priority for every project we participate on.

Thanks to ABC, I've had a chance to meet truly professional team and I am enjoying being part of such team.

Jana Kolářová

Marketing area leader

What I enjoy the most are diversity and synergies of projects I’ve been involved into. The most surprising was a variety of possible meanings of one term in different industry segments and sometimes even within one company.

It is a great feeling when our project shows a significant profit improvement opportunity of the client’s business and it is well implemented then. It makes me proud when can say: if it were my business I’d go for it.

The fun was to find out how to use a shower when you have just a hot tub, actually it is more fun now.

Maybe you didn’t know:
I like wine, books, sails, painting order does not matter.

Motto: "Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler."

What makes me happy is when advanced knowledge is translated into business reality and brings tangible benefits: "Implementation of statistical models and their setting in the process in Russian banks significantly improved overall accuracy in fraud prevention, refined decision making in the underwriting process and brought tens of millions of EURO of additional profit."

Maybe you didn’t know:
I am a fan of rock music and play the piano with my own band. My dream is to go around the planet on a motorcycle.

Pavel Podbrdský

One of great things about this job can be described in one word: "Diversity". In many aspects. Every day you learn something new. Even corresponding business problems at different companies are sometimes approached completely differently. This allows you to learn fast and apply experience across projects.

We do not find ideal solutions on paper. We make sure that solutions can and will be implemented. Seeing the change to actually happen and bring results is very rewarding.

"The best thing about working for ABC is the ever-changing variety of projects. Personally, I have never been engaged in two similar projects in a row. Sometimes it’s consulting high-level business processes and strategy, other times calculating detailed business cases and piloting, and occasionally even hand-coding hard-core scripts, programming and statistics handling. Most of all, I like meeting so many different sorts of people, listening to their opinions and seeing their points of view. Working here is like Forrest Gump’s famous box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get."

Maybe you didn’t know:
"I’m quite good at sports climbing, making maori poi and Dance Dance Revolution. Theoretical physics is my hobby as well as constructing role-playing simulations."

Tomáš Wolf

Although I come from a technical background, I became a big fan of statistics and economics. I enjoy applying my knowledge, experience and natural curiosity in joint teams and turning them into sustainable solutions which not only make or save more money, but are sustainable and fully adapted by the joint team. My latest project is Lean Six Sigma, where I can apply my project management experience with my enthusiasm for statistics.

The biggest challenge so far was to build a collateral-selling channel for a major bank. The situation consisted of a staff of collectors with no sales experience and with no sales presence in any of the country’s regions, little infrastructure or clear process definitions and control.

I helped to improve Risk Costs by several millions of EUR in countries hit by devaluation and the mortgage bubble through customized collection processes and introduction of credit counseling. Furthermore, I streamlined servicing processes for SME clients at a major international bank saving half a million USD a year.

Maybe you didn’t know:
Along with personal finance, which is one of my passions since my studies in the US, I enjoy running medium and long tracks. Recently, I started collecting out-of-circulation bank notes.

Working for ABC is a great challenge for me. From the identification of business opportunities to onsite delivery and the resulting handover to the client, it’s great to be part of an intense, compact team that is passionate about what they do. A no-nonsense atmosphere where we don’t waste time with pseudo-strategic presentations, but diving in and providing hands-on delivery with real outcomes at the end.

The biggest challenge in ABC began when my wife gave birth to our daughter – keeping a healthy balance between my family and the job I like.

Josef Rajko

Consultant

What I like the most about my job is the results-oriented approach. It gives us a possibility to join the team of professionals with local knowledge, identify and deliver significant improvements and at the end to be a successful team. My job has given me a great opportunity to meet and work with a lot of interesting people and learn more about business of different financial organizations in many different countries. I'm really glad to be a part of the ABC.

Maybe you didn’t know:
When I have time I like fishing. During our projects I had several opportunities to stay onsite over the weekend to explore the local flowing and standing waters with their fishing treasures.

Ondřej Frydrych

Partner

When starting ABC we had a fairly clear idea what we wanted to create. We could very well imagine working on challenging projects for our clients, working internationally, learning a lot. What I, personally, never realized was how fulfilling it is to create an organization that, in addition to the above, helps young, well educated and talented people achieve their potential. It never ceases to amaze me seeing how the next generation is pushing the envelope of what we are capable of, how daring they are in their dreams of growing and learning beyond what we imagined originally.

What you did not know about him:
I get up earlier on weekends than on weekdays in order to play a round of golf with my friends, before the rest of the family wakes up.

About me, what I like about my job
What I really enjoy about my job is the possibility to share my experiences and enjoy new ones in such a short period of time. I appreciate the hands on execution in conjunction with our clients and seeing immediate results. The main point for me is to understand my client – not only from a business, but also apersonal, point of view.

The combination of working with a great team of people while focusing on real impact on the client’s business is what drives me forward.

Challenging work task:
A two-month long project that needed to be done in 3 weeks. Working not only “standard” nights but also flying 13 hours to be ready to introduce the high impact solution for our client’s business (I needed two laptop batteries and though I survived, I felt like I had rubber legs at the end of the project.

Quotes:
"Do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today."

Maybe you didn’t know:
In my spare time I like to recharge my batteries mostly through sports – tennis (on a competitive level), skiing, jogging, working out at a gym amongst other things. I used to be a tennis trainer for several years including a stint in New York.

Motto: "Work hard, play hard"

What I like about my job: "I like to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and solve different problems."

In December 2008 an ABC partner asked me to go to China "to have some fun setting up a new consumer finance company". I only had a weekend between arriving from a previous assignment in Moscow and my departure for China, where I stayed for 18 months. We turned around the company and made it profitable in a relatively short period of time. And suprisingly we had the promised fun in doing that.

Even though the work was time consuming and tough, we found some time to travel around China and SE Asia which was one of the biggest "personal" benefits of the project."

Maybe you didn’t know:
"I balanced my personal and work life by getting married in Bali on my way back home from China …simple and efficient."

"I like to observe the growth of talented, young colleagues – both as professionals as well as humans. I am always thrilled to see how quickly a fresh university graduate can change into an expert consultant in the ABC environment."

Maybe you didn’t know:
"I was the first Czech economist to obtain a full scope PhD from a Japanese university. I am happy, however, that this “rising sun” episode is over….even though there could hardly be anything more exotic and eye-opening than spending 4 years in this country."
